Jason Belmonte’s perfect 300 game at the Professional Bowlers Association Tour Finals in the US has etched another tenpin record into the history books.
The 39-year-old from Orange, NSW, became the first bowler in PBA ranks to roll three televised 300 games, with his feat at the PBA Tour Finals in Arlington, Washington, aired live to a worldwide viewership.
However, the achievement wasn't enough for defending champion Belmonte, who uses a signature two-handed style, to advance to the final.
He fell to his opponent, Kris Prather in a two-frame roll off after missing two makeable spares in the first game.
Prather went down 2-0 to fellow American Kyle Troup in the grand final match.
Belmonte won the Tour Finals last year, which was his 30th career PBA Tour title, and went on to be named player of the year for the seventh time.
